Opening hours

Summer season

From June 20th  to August 11th 2024 our opening hours are

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM to 3:30 PM

Winter season

The museum is closed for visitors during the winter season, but feel free to contact us if you would like to book an off-season guided tour or do any research here.

Groups

Groups are welcome all year round, also outside regular opening hours.
Please contact us for futher information, requests and appointments.

Tickets

Tickets can be bought on arrival. We offer family discount, and children under 6 years of age visit free of charge.

How to get here

The museum is located just outside Hamar, at Ingrid Semmingsens veg 10 in Ottestad.
We recommend taking a taxi (ca 7 minutes) from Hamar train station or your hotel.

By train

The train from Gardermoen Oslo airport takes one hour to Hamar.
Oslo to Hamar takes roughly an hour and a half by train.

By car

By car follow the E6 from Oslo 120 kilometers (74.6 miles) in the direction of Trondheim.

Food and drinks

You will find Ingvalson's café in the heart of the open-air museum, situated on the first floor of the Bjorgo-Ingvalson house along the scenic Ottestad path. Our café is open during the summer season. 
Take a seat and sample some delicious Norwegian refreshments!
